THE RUSSIAN EMBASSY’S PRESS RELEASE
HANS R. BJORKEGREN AWARDED BY RUSSIA
The noted Swedish writer, poet and translator, Hans R. Bjorkegren, has been awarded the prestigious Alexander Pushkin Medal, according to the Kremlin’s Presidential decree published in Moscow on March 15, 2008.
The writer’s translations of novels by Boris Pasternak, Alexander Solzhenitsyn and other writers, as well as Anna Akhmatova’s poetry have enabled the Swedish readers to familiarize themselves with the oeuvre of many Russian classics.
The Ambassador of Russia in Stockholm, Alexander Kadakin, telephoned to Hans Bjorkegren and congratulated him on the high award. |
