Travelling to Saint-Petersburg without a visa on board “St. Peter Line” ferries

The Russian ferry operator “St. Peter Line” announced a new direct route from Saint-Petersburg to Stockholm as of April, 2011. According to the Russian legislation, foreign citizens (including citizens of Sweden and other EU countries) as well as stateless persons travelling onboard the ferries are entitled to enter Saint-Petersburg on a visa-free basis and stay in Russia up to 72 hours (3 days) without a visa. This regime is applicable to those foreign citizens and stateless persons only who purchase their ferry tickets well in advance (at least 10 days prior to the expected voyage) and are going be part of an organized tourist group defined by the ferry operator. Such travellers are supposed to keep together while in Russia and stay overnight on board the ferry or at a hotel envisaged by the group tourist program. A valid national passport or other travel document officially accepted by the authorities of the Russian Federation would be required to cross the Russian border. Traveller’s personal data should also be properly reported to the border control by the ferry operator in advance. Those ones who are going to stay in Russia longer than 72 hours or planning to make sightseeings personally (e.g. would get separated from the tourist group) still need to obtain a Russian tourist visa before travelling. For more information on your visa-free trip please contact ferry operator “St. Peter Line”.

No visas by post

We do not process any visa applications received in the mail on the basis of mutual reciprocity.
