Transit visa

Please be advised that starting April 2nd, 2012 a prior appointment should be made to apply for a Russian visa at the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy directly.

More info

Attention!
The Consular Section of the Embassy is not responsible for visa documents handled through intermediary tourist agencies or bureaus. Those organizations are commercial structures and are in no way associated with the Consular Section of the Embassy. To avoid any misunderstanding we strongly recommend you to process your visa applications via the Consular Section of the Embassy directly or via the Russian visa center.

If you are intending to make a transit stop in Russia en route to another country, you need to apply for a transit visa. In order to do so the following documents should be submitted to the Consular Section:

1. One filled-out visa application form, valid national passport, one colour passport-size picture, pre-paid medical travel insurance (for more information please check sections 1 - 4 of the General Information and Details);

2. A valid visa of the country of your final destination or a confirmation in written form from any official source (i.e. web-site of the corresponding Embassy) that a visa is not needed to enter the country of your final distination;

3. The original and a copy of your confirmed air ticket to and from Russia (reservations and confirmation of booking are not accepted).

Please note that a transit visa is not required if you stay in the transit zone of the Russian airport waiting for your connection within 24 hours of arrival. Transit visa is usually issued for maximum of 3 days.

ATTENTION! As a general rule, Consular Section issues a transit visa mainly in case you do not have a possibility to travel directly from the country of your departure to the country of your final destination.

This type of visa could be single entry or double-entry. The standard visa processing fee within 4 to 10 calendar days for the citizens of Sweden as well as other EU member states is 330 SEK (35 EUR). Emergency visas with up to 3 days of processing time are possible for a double fee in the amount of 660 SEK (70 EUR). Please do not pay the amount until the consular officer examines all documents and makes a decision on your application. Also, be informed that a consular officer could specify a longer period of processing your visa application. The period of processing could in several cases be prolonged up to 30 calendar days due to certain reasons.
