More info

Attention!
The Consular Section of the Embassy is not responsible for visa documents handled through intermediary tourist agencies or bureaus. Those organizations are commercial structures and are in no way associated with the Consular Section of the Embassy. To avoid any misunderstanding we strongly recommend you to process your visa applications via the Consular Section of the Embassy directly or via the Russian visa center.

If you are intending to work or study in Russia for longer than 90 days, you should apply for a work or study visa, correspondingly. In order to do so the following documents should be submitted to the Consular Section:

1. One filled-out visa application form, valid national passport, one colour passport-size picture, pre-paid medical travel insurance (for more information please check sections 1 - 4 of the General Information and Details); Please note that in this particular case your passport should be valid at least 1,5 years after the expiry date of the visa;

2. An official invitation for work or study (originals only are accepted) issued by the Federal Migration Board of the Russian Federation. The invitation could be processed on behalf of the organization inviting you to visit Russia with work or study purposes by a Local Office of the Federal Migration Board. The original of the invitation should be sent to the applicant directly.

3. According to the Russian legislation, a foreign citizen or a stateless person intending to stay in Russia longer than 90 days should submit an HIV-test certificate along with the visa application (as a rule, it should be made not later than 3 month ago).

The standard visa processing fee within 4 to 10 calendar days for the citizens of Sweden is 725 SEK (work visas) and 435 SEK (study visas). Emergency visas with up to 3 days of processing time are possible for a double fee in the amount of 1450 SEK (work visas) and 870 SEK (study visas). Please do not pay the amount until the consular officer examines all documents and makes a decision on your application. Also, be informed that a consular officer could specify a longer period of processing your visa application. The period of processing could in several cases be prolonged up to 30 calendar days due to certain reasons.

The insurance policy should cover the entire period of your stay in Russia.

If you are considered a highly qualified specialist, your employer can apply for a special kind of invitation for you through the Federal Migration Board of the Russian Federation according to the following guidelines.
